Tips for NEET 2021 Preparation

neet 2021 preparation

Since 2020, NEET is the one and only medical entrance exam in India. So for all undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Vet., etc. Students need to qualify and crack only the NEET exam. Even AIIMS and JIPMER who conducted their own entrance exams previously are now under the purview of NEET itself. Now the unification is a good move as it gives students relief from running around writing different entrances and rather focus on preparing for NEET. The only fall-out is that as the exam is conducted only once a year, that one day of NEET exam becomes very important and everything needs to go perfect on the day.

So all aspirants out there to make NEET 2021 exam day your perfect day, it is time to start off your prep. As the first step towards start of prep, it is important for students should be familiar with the exam pattern and syllabus.

I am not expecting any major change in the NEET 2021 exam pattern. The only possible change could be in the Exam Mode. As the NTA has long been discussing making NEET exam a computer based exam, the only possible change could that.*

NEET 2021 Syllabus

The prescribed syllabus for NEET is the class 11 and 12 NCERT based syllabus.

However, for the year 2021, CBSE has announced a 30% syllabus reduction in the plus one and plus two academics due to the COVID pandemic for the school exams. But, NTA has not made any such announcements about syllabus reduction for NEET 2021. Students are recommended to continue preparing for NEET as per their school syllabus and we would notify any changes in the NEET 2021 syllabus depending on the NTA notifications.

NEET 2021 Preparation Strategy

A major issue faced by students while attending the exam is that they do not get enough time to attend all the questions. This is because of lack of practice of the MCQ pattern questions. Students should try to practice and familiarize the question pattern as much as possible since the questions in the NEET exams are not asked directly from any text books or question bank like in board exams. If you look at any previous year question paper, you would see that it has more and more application and numerical based questions. To solve such numerical and application based question, students need to find the right balance between concept theory learning and practicing such pattern MCQs regularly. Practicing different types of application questions continuously will help the students to attend the questions for the NEET exam easily within the allotted time as well as with a lot more confidence.

To crack the NEET exam in the first attempt itself, students must follow a proper schedule and study plan. Here are some tips you can follow for your NEET 2021 preparations.

  1. The first step is to go through the syllabus and a previous year question paper thoroughly.
  2. Though all subjects are important for school studies, NEET clearly gives an edge to Biology. So make sure to give sufficient time to the preparation of Biology especially. Try and follow the importance list for Biology chapters.
  3. With limited time at hand, it is important to prioritize the chapters based on their importance in NEET. Do more practice from Most Important and Important chapters.
  4. Give more importance to the topics which you are weaker from the important chapters.
  5. Make a proper study plan and fix a time for the entrance exam preparations everyday with your school studies itself. It should not be a weekly preparation.
  6. Prepare your own notes while studying each topic. Write down all the formulas, important points etc. separately in a book. This will help you a lot while during the last-minute revisions. Also, it will help you in memorizing the topics easily.
  7. Clear your doubts regarding each topic as soon as possible.
  8. Practicing mock tests will help you to understand thoroughly how NEET exam will be like.
  9. For the theory portion, you can continue using NCERT text books. If your concept knowledge is slightly week, try watching concept videos on free apps for the concerned topic.
  10. Revise the concepts as well as tests taken rigorously and regularly is key to good score in NEET 2021 preparation.
