Various measures like no physical frisking, different time slots for reporting, contact less verification of documents are planned as part of safety protocols for NEET and JEE main examination by NTA for 2020. As part of safety measures, all exam centres would keep gloves, masks, hand sanitizers, disinfectant liquid, disinfectant backpack spray machines, thermo guns and individual water bottles for staff.
All floors, walls, and gates of the exam centre will be sanitised with the disinfectants and those on the exam duty will wear masks and gloves after staff verification.
Safety Protocol for NEET and JEE Main 2020:
- On the day of examination, students must present a self-declaring certificate that they don’t have COVID 19.
- Every student's temperature will be checked and those students with a temperature above 99.4 degree Fahrenheit will be taken to separate room for writing the exam if their temperature doesn’t become normal in 15 to 20 minutes.
- Candidates are allowed to carry a mask, gloves, transparent water bottle, and hand sanitizer.
- Documents needed for admission to exam centre are NEET/ JEE 2020 admit card and any one Government approved Identity Card.
- JEE Main 2020 being computer based examination, odd seat numbers will be allocated in shift 1 and 3, and even seat numbers in the shift 2 and 4. There will be barcode readers to scan the admit card and verify the details without physically touching it.
- To avoid crowd at the examination centre entrance due to candidates reaching together, they will be given staggered time slots for reporting. The staggering of time slots will be done to ensure uniform distribution of candidates across rooms during entry at the examination centres. A prior communication on this process of staggered entry will be shared with the candidates through admit card and through SMS. Hence all students are recommended to reach their centres as per the time.
- To make sure a student can reach the allotted centre on time, a hyperlink to the location of the centre will be provided to students. It is recommended that Candidates verify the location of the centre in advance by clicking on the link (when a candidate clicks the Centre details).

To meet with the elaborate safety protocols, the number of exam centres have been increased for NEET 2020 from 2546 to 384 and for JEE Main 2020 from 570 to 660. Additionally, in case of JEE (Main), the number of shifts has been increased from the earlier 8 to 12, and the number of candidates per shift has been reduced from earlier 1.32 lakh to 85000 now.
